DENVER: As Colorado's controversial Secretary of State Scott Gessler continues his campaign to put up obstacles for voters and stack election rules in favor of his former right-wing legal clients, ProgressNow Colorado, the state's largest online progressive advoacy organization, relaunched their "Gessler Watch" project to hold him accountable.

"After a year and a half in office, it is clear that Scott Gessler is the most partisan secretary in Colorado's modern history," said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Joanne Schwartz. "Gessler loses in court, then comes back with new ways of pushing his agenda, often overreaching the authority of his office. Rather than working to ensure access to this most critical constitutional right, Gessler has repeatedly pushed policies that disproportionately impact minorities, seniors, disabled, and military voters. He is committed to undermining Colorado's election laws, and helping his former legal clients avoid funding limits and disclosure requirements."

"Simply put, Scott Gessler presents the gravest threat to free and fair elections we've ever faced in this state," said Schwartz. "As a result, we've reactivated our 'Gessler Watch' project--a clearinghouse of information on Gessler's partisan history and growing list of misdeeds. The people of Colorado need to know what their chief elections officer is up to before it's too late to stop him."
